What
We Do
BlackSheep in the Community is dedicated to helping you help your community. We have created an online directory that lists organizations offering volunteer opportunities. By providing logistics on service events from a variety of nonprofits, we connect community members who have a heart for helping others.
We are starting with a focus on Roswell, Marietta, Woodstock, Alpharetta, and surrounding areas in Georgia.e

About Us
Welcome to BlackSheep in the Community. We aim to connect people across the span of generations and cultures through a common purpose of helping others. Why ‘BlackSheep’? Check out the origin here.
We are incredibly grateful for the service organizations and volunteers already at work in our community. That said, we know it can be difficult for these two separate entities to find each other. With our accessible database of service opportunities, BlackSheep in the Community aims to connect a diverse group of volunteers and organizations so they can make a difference, together.

How to Get Started
Featured Organizations
“DOs” of Volunteering Well
DO research, in advance, the organization that you will be supporting.
DO approach each opportunity knowing you are there to serve others.
DO be open to a change of your thoughts, attitudes, and beliefs.
DO be fully present with the person/people you are serving.
DO understand that one of the greatest needs for people is to be seen, heard, accepted, and loved. Regardless of the activity you are to perform, sometimes the person you are there to serve just wants to connect with another person.
“DO NOTs” of Volunteering Well
DO NOT be judgmental of the person/people you are serving.
DO NOT be judgmental of the environment in which you are serving.
DO NOT focus more on yourself than the person/people you are serving.
DO NOT think you are there to change the person or their situation.
DO NOT make a commitment that you will not be able to meet.
DO NOT offer unsolicited suggestions on how to better improve the organization you are representing.
